Shift: Monday Friday, shifts starting at 6:30 or 7am. Hours will be either 8 or 10 hour shifts depending on the location. There will be call. Complete pre-procedure room set up, including but not limited to: endoscope set up, video tower set-up, supply set up, and specimen management supplies. Assists physicians with specimen management, including proper labeling and processing. In collaboration with the physician, actively communicates key procedural elements to the RN, including specimen types and location. Properly handles scopes. Completes immediate bedside cleaning of scopes prior to transport to decontamination. Reports known damage to endoscopes and equipment and follows departmental processes to remove from service and implement repairs. Maintain endoscopic instruments and accessories in working order. Troubleshoot and recognize malfunctions with equipment. Anticipate the needs of the endoscopist and endoscopy team. Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment. Implement and follow infection control procedures according to the hospital policy and SGNA guidelines, while following departmental policy and manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and disinfection of equipment. Facilitate room turnover for efficient delivery of care. Assist with bedside cleaning of the scopes. Clean rooms after completion of procedures and set up room for next procedure. Maintain appropriate levels of supplies in each endoscopy room and scope room. Assist with managing inventory under the direction of the nursing supervisor/manager. Perform duties in a cost-effective manner, to avoid waste of hospital resources. Assist with transferring and positioning of patients as needed. Participate in quality improvement activities; assist in maintaining compliance with hospital accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. Required Qualifications

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be obtained is required. Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor GI Scope Certification (CFER) by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within two (2) years as a condition of continued employment in this job classification. Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience as Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Surgical Technician, or similar position Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
