JOB OVERVIEW: M&D Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Safety to lead the organization’s safety initiatives and ensure a culture of safety excellence across all projects. The Director of Safety will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety programs that align with OSHA standards, the industry’s best practices, and company objectives. This leadership role requires close collaboration with all departments to foster a proactive safety culture, mitigate risks, and ensure regulatory compliance. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS: Safety Policy Development: Establish and maintain company-wide safety policies and procedures. Ensure policies are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations. Continuously evaluate and improve safety programs based on emerging trends and regulatory changes. Conduct organization-wide risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. Oversee the selection and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and engineering controls to include EM385 requirements. Training & Compliance: Lead OSHA training programs, including OSHA 510 and OSHA 30-hour certifications. Develop and implement site-specific safety programs and jobsite AHA’s. Ensure ongoing employee compliance with safety training requirements. Provide CPR/First Aid training as required. Provide aerial lift, reach forklift, and confined space training as required. Act as the primary point of contact for injury, illness, and accident reporting. Lead thorough investigations of incidents, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Track and report safety metrics, such as Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Near Miss frequency. Site Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance. Develop corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution of identified hazards. Engage with field personnel to reinforce a culture of safety. Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with OSHA regulations and other relevant industry standards. Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and clients regarding safety matters. Ensure documentation and reporting comply with legal and client requirements. Emergency Response Planning: Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans. Conduct regular drills and training sessions. Ensure effective communication and coordination during emergencies. Leadership & Communication: Champion a culture of safety throughout the organization. Collaborate with Project Management, Human Resources, and Field Operations to ensure safety goals align with company objectives. Communicate safety initiatives and expectations effectively across all levels of the organization. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Minimum of 5-7 years of construction safety experience, preferably in mechanical contracting. Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or related field (preferred). OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required); OSHA 500 Certification (preferred). CPR/First Aid certified. Experience with hazard analysis, accident prevention, and safety inspections. Strong working knowledge of Workers' Compensation and applicable safety regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to travel to project sites as needed. Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Must be able to pass a background check for project-specific access on base. Must be able to support projects with AHA's, lift plans, SDS, etc. PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT: Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds, work at various heights, and access construction sites. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Exposure to varying climatic and environmental conditions at job sites. PERFORMANCE METRICS: Incident Frequency Rate (TRIR) within 50% of national average. Training Completion Rate: 95% of employees completing mandatory safety training. Average response time for risk mitigation: 24 hours. Perform jobsite inspections minimum of three (3) per week. Reports summary of jobsite inspections with names for proactive/violations; Monthly. Manage and execute M&D’s safety awards program, including awards and meal procurement, etc. for each jobsite quarterly. MENTAL INVOLVEMENT: Employee may be required to follow set procedures and standards; apply basic mathematical skills; plan work and select proper tools; compare and understand differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects; picture and evaluate solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; follow oral and/or written directions, plans and blueprints; read; write; and recognize and report safety hazards. WORK ENVIRONMENT FACTORS: Location: industrial construction sites and/or office environment. Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways. Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately indoor climate; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc., potential exposure to chemical substances.
