Are you an experienced safety leader looking to join a growing company and make a positive impact? EPI Power is hiring a Safety Director! The Safety Director is responsible for strategic leadership and implementation of all EPI safety programs. This crucial role will oversee and lead company compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, key environmental and safety implementation programs, and direct services to manage hazardous materials and prevent injuries and accidents. The Safety Director partners with company management, external parties, and individuals across the organization to build positive relationships and create a culture of safety.
This role can be based out of any of the following locations:
Des Moines, IA
Cedar Rapids, IA
Boydton, VA

What You'll Do:
Drive a positive and proactive safety culture across the company at all job sites
Develop, monitor, oversee, and audit the implementation of safety program, plans, polices, and procedures
Provide expertise to project teams and safety professionals including training EPI employees on a variety of topics as they relate to safety
Support business acquisition efforts
Recruit, hire, and train team members
Provide leadership to the safety team including mentorship, development opportunities, and guidance
Create a positive environment where employees can share best practices, ask questions, raise concerns, and present new ideas for program enhancements
Collect, analyze, and prepare safety management information and statistical data necessary for planning, report generation, and decision-making
Partner with individuals across the organization to ensure effective coordination in health, environmental, and safety initiatives
Make recommendations to Executive Management concerning safety policies and procedures to help prevent, mitigate or abate risk and safety concerns
Provide case and risk management to the organization
Establish a strong relationship/partnership with clients and partners
What We're Looking For:
Experience:
10+ years of experience as a safety manager, regional safety manager, or high level safety professional
Experience managing safety compliance programs is required
OSHA 500 certification required
ASSE certification required
Skills:
Excellent leadership skills including the ability to build trust and provide mentorship and development opportunities for the safety team
Ability to build positive relationships across the organization and be a trusted partner to employees while being sensitive to personal issues that can occur on the job
Comfortable with public speaking, presenting, and leading meetings
Detail-oriented and highly organized
Ability to make decisions that balance both risk and practicality
Comfortable taking a stand as it relates to safety even when faced with opposition
Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of initiative
Excellent verbal and written communication
Technology:
Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
Additional Requirements:
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Ability to work 50 hours per week Monday - Friday
