Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager helps manage the overall project direction, completion/financial outcome and administers both the owner and subcontractor relationships for assigned projects. The Assistant Project Manager helps with responsibility for directing and mentoring on-site staff. The position requires business management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills and strong communication and client service skills. Major duties and responsibilities include: practicing implementation of Operation Zero and all Manhattan safety policies, all qualities/responsibilities of a Project Engineer 2, participating in conflict resolution process with owners, participating in change order negotiations with subcontractors, preparing job cost budget updates, providing preconstruction assistance, assisting with trade bid packages and scope presentation, participating in pre-con meetings, assisting in bid day or precon pricing efforts, reviewing subcontracts and purchase orders, participating in project close-out process, and more. Job skills and abilities guidelines include: OSHA 30-hour safety certification and first aid & CPR training and certification, computer knowledge and efficiency, proven experience in Manhattan document control and schedule software, thorough understanding of the industry, strong written and verbal communication skills, and more. Minimum qualifications include: a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or equivalent, and four years of industry experience. Working conditions and physical efforts include: adaptability to all types of weather conditions, traversing and inspecting all areas of a construction job site, ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day, ability to communicate effectively, ability to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time, travel may be required occasionally, and exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.
