Join the cutting-edge research team at the
National Institute on Drug Abuse as a Part-Time MRI Technologist in Baltimore, MD.
It is expected to be 3 weeknights per week with flexibility on which nights those will be. In this role, you'll support advanced neuroimaging studies exploring brain structure and function, contributing to high-impact clinical research. You'll work on a Siemens MRI scanner conducting structural, functional, and spectroscopic imaging in human studies.
Responsibilities:
Ensure all research participants and visitors meet MRI safety screening and are free of metal and other contraindications Screen everyone entering the scanner room and maintain detailed MRI safety documentation Collect and archive MRI data with a focus on consistency and secure storage Ensure MR imaging, behavioral, and physiological data collected is of the highest quality Operate the MRI control console, select proper sequences, and use peripheral hardware to acquire high-quality data Prepare and position research participants, explain procedures, obtain consent, and monitor comfort and safety Perform structural, functional MRI, and MR spectroscopy scans on humans and animals Conduct research scanning procedures and contribute to technical improvements in pulse sequences and imaging protocols Transfer and organize image data in secure digital systems; maintain accurate scan logs and records Train staff and researchers on MR scanner use and MRI safety protocols Assist in scheduling scan sessions and coordinating facility usage Troubleshoot scanner performance issues and coordinate maintenance when needed Collaborate with MR physicists and researchers to optimize imaging quality and workflow Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited MRI Technology program or equivalent in medical imaging or related field Field of study: Medical Technologies, Health/Medical Professions, Medical Assisting Services Proficient with MRI scanner operations (Siemens preferred) Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools Knowledge of fMRI, MR spectroscopy, and diffusion imaging is a plus
