Job Summary
The Operating Room Cleaner plays a vital role in supporting Client's mission by ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe hospital environment. This position focuses on maintaining high standards of cleanliness in patient rooms, operating rooms, and other hospital areas, directly contributing to patient safety, satisfaction, and the overall perception of care.
Key Responsibilities Perform thorough and frequent cleaning of patient rooms, including multiple times per day, to maintain a safe and comfortable environment. Clean and disinfect precaution/isolation rooms in compliance with infection control protocols. Maintain cleanliness in hospital offices, hallways, public spaces, and ancillary areas. Ensure Environmental Services carts and cleaning equipment are clean, stocked, and safely stored. Remove trash, empty boxes, and soiled linens from designated areas and transport them to disposal or laundry facilities. Replenish supplies such as soap, sanitizer, and paper products across assigned units. Safely remove sharps containers, glove boxes, and soiled equipment to appropriate soiled utility areas. Respond promptly to Environmental Services requests received via phone, text, or internal applications during shift. Attend mandatory in-service training and adhere to departmental procedures and safety policies. Report maintenance concerns, damages, or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately. Maintain a professional, courteous, and service-focused attitude when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
Required Qualifications
Education: H igh School Diploma or equivalent.
Experien ce: Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience. Previous hospital or operating room cleaning experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies: Knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfection practices. Ability to follow infection control and safety procedures accurately. Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Dependable, detail-oriented, and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in an operating room or sterile healthcare environment. Familiarity with hospital cleaning protocols and safety standards.
Certifications (if any) No formal certifications required; on-the-job training provided. Infection control or environmental services training (preferred but not required).
Work Conditions Frequent interaction with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals. Physical demands include standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and operating cleaning equipment.
Regular exposure to a hospital environment, including potential biohazards (protective equipment provided).
