Overview

Title:Seasonal Programs Assistant

Location:Harrisburg

Reports To:Directly: Programs and Services Manager Indirectly: Programs and Services Chief Administrator

Availability:September – December 2025

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

Salary and Grade: $18.00p/hr, 73

Responsibilities

Position Overview:Provide high-level administrative and programming support throughout the Holiday season specifically throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas Assistance Programs.

Description of Position:

handling confidential information from clients requesting assistance through the intake process

application process

phone calls and person to person visits

Perform clerical functions such as preparing correspondence

processing assistance applications

scheduling meetings

make copies as needed

scheduling and coordinating volunteers

organizing donation pickups and deliveries

providing onsite support at the distribution site as needed

Qualifications

Requirements:

High School Graduate or equivalent; Bachelor degree a plus.

As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.

Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.

Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
