Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced scheduler who can learn new processes and workflows quickly. The right candidate must be able to think independently and show good judgement to ensure patient satisfaction and high quality care. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
This position will work primarily in our Greenville office with possible travel to other office locations.
Schedule all patient surgeries and post-op checks. At the time of scheduling or at the pre-op visit, provide clear instructions for surgery and confirm the patient understands the instructions. Inform patients of out of pocket expenses.
Organize charts and collect all pertinent information for upcoming surgery, such as bookings, allergies, medications, medical conditions, lens orders, insurance information accuracy, precertification and medical clearance.
Obtain consent for surgeries and obtain all legal documentation for those patients who cannot speak for themselves.
Immediately schedule all pre and postoperative appointments for the patient with their primary care providers, co-management physicians, hospitals, clinics, and labs, as needed, when surgery is decided. Follow-up and retrieve the results of the appointments and labs.
Answer all telephone inquiries from patients, their families, or primary care providers concerning surgery and/or related concerns as long as the information pathway is HIPAA compliant.
Obtain prior authorization as needed for surgery.
Communicate with clinical staff when a referral to an outside provider office or facility is needed.
Document referral and related communication into the patient's electronic medical record (EMR).
