Overview
Collaborate closely with physicians and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care. Perform telephone triage and facilitate insurance authorizations. Record vital signs: blood pressure, temperature, etc. Administer immunizations and perform phlebotomy. Assist with minor procedures (e.g., wound care, catheterization, treatments, and related tasks). Maintain and stock exam rooms and ensure cleanliness and safety. File medical records and update charts/EHRs. Support scheduling, greeting, and check-in/out processes. Essential Functions and Duties
Answer and manage phone calls professionally. Schedule patient appointments and coordinate services. Greet patients and ensure accurate demographic and medical information entry. Conduct prior authorizations for medications and procedures. Prepare patients for exams by reviewing labs, medications, allergies, and vital signs. Communicate with patients regarding scheduling, follow-ups, referrals, and care instructions. Escort patients and assist with mobility or exam preparation. Perform minor clinical tasks as directed by the provider. Assist in instrument sterilization and inventory management. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exceptional customer service skills and professional communication (verbal and written). Typing proficiency: 40 WPM. Strong basic math, computer, and analytical skills. Reliable, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented mindset with willingness to support colleagues. Fluent in English; additional languages helpful. X-ray experience (beneficial for Podiatry). Dermatology/Surgical Tech experience (required for Podiatry). Phlebotomy training preferred. Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant Certification preferred. 13 years of experience in healthcare or office environments preferred. Entry-level accepted at select clinic locations. Background in family medicine, pediatrics, or specialty support helpful but not required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification not required; certification offered within the first 90 days of hire. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Standing and walking for extended periods. Sedentary duties with lifting requirements ranging from 10 to 50 lbs depending on clinic. Repetitive motions from computer and clinical tasks. Climate-controlled, indoor clinical environments. Flexible schedules may include half-days, extended shifts, and specialty rotations.
