Job Description
The Charge Nurse provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This position manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The position indirectly supervises medical assistants within the practice and assists leadership with supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws such as training employees; assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsibilities
Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care. Develops, discusses and communicates plan of care. Demonstrates skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Evaluates identified problems, care provided and patient response and take appropriate action. Maintains timely and accurate documentation and complete audits for the unit as necessary. Assumes responsibility for daily personnel assignment/monitoring patient care and overall unit activities, in accordance with established standards. Supports Professional Governance through engagement and support of the Unit Based Council and other nursing councils. Qualifications
Minimum Education
Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required or Associates Degree Nursing Required Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred Minimum Work Experience
1-3 years Clinical Nursing Experience Required Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state license Upon Hire Required and BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Demonstrated proficiency in clinical nursing, knowledge, and skills. Capable of adapting to a changing environment. Organizational Skills. Possesses effective organization, decision, and problem-solving skills in own practice and when supervising others.
