The Medical Assistant Telehealth position is responsible for providing assessments, insurance support, referral support and all supporting functions in the delivery of reproductive health care and primary care via telehealth. This position works in partnership with licensed providers to ensure high quality, nonjudgmental, efficient delivery of care. At PPLA, you will discover a culture of like-minded individuals who are eager to make positive contributions to their community and to the Planned Parenthood mission.Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMedical Assistant Diploma from an accredited institution required; Medical Assistant Certification preferredAmerican Heart Association BLS Certification required Two (2) years' experience in a clinical setting; telehealth experience preferredNextGen experience preferredReproductive health care experience preferredAbility and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County.Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work.If using a personal vehicle to drive for work purposes, a valid CA driver license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.About this position:Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.Adhere to Agency's policies, procedures and protocols; Adhere to PPLA goals and policies on professionalism, wait times and on the system for addressing client complaintsParticipate in efforts to achieve established goals for productivity and revenue cycle goalsEncourage patient feedbackResponsible for reviewing and scrubbing the schedules for Telehealth services, appropriately schedule surgery/procedures/diagnostic testing in a timely manner according to patient and physician scheduleMeets with patients via video identifying and addressing barriers to care, and providing support and resources as neededRegister patients, compiling complete and accurate information for health records and timely reimbursementPrepare and assemble charts checking for completeness, signatures and appropriate assemblyAssist with the Patient Portal Enrollment processCopy, transfer, and scan charts as neededReconcile billing at the end of patient visitMaintain effective patient flow to assist in prompt treatment of the patientGreet and assist all patients, using guest relation techniques while professionally representing the visions and values of PPLAFollow scripts and protocols in support of services offered. Utilize various computer programs to verify eligibility, schedule and register patients, enter charges, review benefits information and generate letters for authorizations, screen patient and determine if eligible for FPACT and other insurance eligibilityCollaborate with the Call Center and Insurance Verification team by responding to Billing Department and Call Center inquiries promptly, responds effectively to questions and concerns expressed by patients and other staffCommunicate/coordinate with health center staff to resolve issues relating to scheduling of patientsEnsure the accuracy and presence of appropriate documentation for effective patient careAssist with answering and booking appointments, appropriately document, schedule, reschedule, cancel or confirm patient appointments in a timely manner to maximize scheduling for patient volume as needed or requestedAct as Data Steward by following appropriate procedures regarding requests, access and disclosure of PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations, and takes necessary precautions to prevent unauthorized accessResolve problems (registration, eligibility, billing or financial) in a timely mannerAccept and process payments according to established guidelines, Familiarity with sliding fee scale and contracted insurancesAccurately verify insurance coverage, including Medical Group eligibility, attach Eligibility Verification, Tasks commercial and Medi HMO/Medi-OHC and eligibility requirements, Ability to check out and be well versed with end of the day reportsAnswer incoming calls and provides information or directs caller as appropriateProcess prescription refill requests in accordance with established proceduresObtain medical history, obtain vital signs (blood pressure, height, weight, etc.)Provide abortion information per agency protocols, make appointments and complete pre-screening formGenerous salary and benefits package include:Medical, dental, and vision coverage options for you and eligible dependentsFree basic life/AD&D policy with additional voluntary coverage optionsShort Term Disability, Critical Illness and Accident policies403(b) Retirement plan with up to 3% employer matchMedical and Dependent Flexible Spending Account plansPublic Transportation and Commuter Pre-Tax ReimbursementsGenerous vacation, sick, and holiday benefitsHiring Range: $25.00 per hourCompensation Philosophy and Position Hiring Range:At Planned Parenthood Los Angeles we continuously work towards our value of "we respect and honor all people", which also relates to our compensation philosophy.
