Description

The Physician - Pediatrician provides care for patients from birth to early adulthood; and diagnose, treat and help prevent children's diseases and injuries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(include, but not limited to the following)

Examines patients or orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis. Examines children regularly to assess their growth and development. Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury in infants and children. Collects, records, and maintains patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results. Advises patients, parents or guardians, and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. Treats children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns. Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients and parents or guardians. Monitors patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary. Plans and executes medical care programs to aid in the mental and physical growth and development of children and adolescents. Refers patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary. Directs and coordinates activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff. Provides consulting services to other physicians. Plans, implements, or administers health programs or standards in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention or treatment of injury or illness. Operates on patients to remove, repair, or improve functioning of diseased or injured body parts and systems. Conducts research to study anatomy and develop or test medications, treatments, or procedures to prevent or control disease or injury. Prepares reports for government or management of birth, death, and disease statistics, workforce evaluations, or medical status of individuals May be requested to perform duties during non-routine clinic hours and/or at other associated clinic sites Performs other job-related activities as requested/required Requirements

At least 5 years clinical experience Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited US School of Medicine, required. Current, unrestricted and valid State of Arizona license to practice medicine from the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine & Surgery OR the Arizona Board of Medical Examiners DEA Registration Current BLS Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
