Job Summary

Essential Functions: • Provides occupational therapy services to students according to Individualized Educational Plans (IEP); develop intervention plans in accordance with District policies and procedures; • participates in IEP meetings, maintains progress notes on student records and provides reports for use in IEP team meetings; participates on the inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary assessment teams. • Conducts assessment of students within their educational settings using an ecological model to determine the need for occupational therapy; conducts reassessments of students focusing on areas of need at educationally relevant intervals; • Regularly re-evaluates students occupational therapy components of the IEP; reports results of evaluations and occupational therapy services to staff, parents, students and other professionals and agencies concerned with the student; reviews reports from health care providers requesting occupational therapy services; • Assists school staff in interpreting occupational therapy services; consults and collaborates with staff and parents in providing occupational therapy services to students on site and through home programs; • Responsible for and provides in-service training and professional development for staff; monitors implementation of occupational therapy program goals by instructional • Assistants, occupational therapist assistants and teaching staff members involved in the provision of intervention services; • Coordinates occupational therapy services with student's health care providers; • Establishes a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, and accountable and that conforms to state and individual agency policy; compose correspondence and prepare reports, compiles and maintains records, summaries, reports relating to students and the assigned area of responsibility.
