Organization's Summary Statement:

The Public Health AeroBiology Lab (PHAB Lab), led by Dr. Donald Milton, specializes in airborne infection transmission and influenza epidemiology research. We are currently seeking part-time Research Nurses to join our clinic research team at the University of Maryland College Park, School of Public Health. This Research Nurse position will primarily involve conducting clinic visits for participants in research studies focused on understanding respiratory virus transmission, conducted in the PHAB Lab Research Clinic. The Research Nurse works under the supervision of the Clinic Director. They will work closely with the clinic staff and undergraduate research assistants (URAs) to collect research data and maintain data quality across all active research protocols.

Job Responsibilities:

-Conduct in-person clinic visits with study participants (young adults), including: o Obtaining informed consent o Confirming eligibility based on study inclusion/exclusion criteria o Collecting demographic and survey data o Measuring vital signs o Collecting protocol-required biological specimens (e.g., nasal swabs, saliva, blood) -Perform basic specimen processing (e.g., centrifuging, labeling) -Enter data into research database, including: o Completing electronic case report forms (eCRFs) o Addressing and resolving data queries -Maintain protocol compliance and report any deviations or adverse events as instructed -Assist in supervising undergraduate research assistants (URAs) during clinic procedures -Monitor clinic supply levels and notify designated personnel when items are low -Participate in community-facing study recruitment activities and campus events -Support kiosk operations related to ongoing research studies -Perform other duties as assigned in support of lab research activities

Preferences:

-Prior experience in a clinical research setting -Familiarity with REDCap or electronic data capture (EDC) systems

Required/Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) -Active Maryland state RN license or license in a compact State -BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Schedule and Hours:

-This is a part-time position, requiring at least 20 hours per week. -The regular schedule can be somewhat flexible, but it must cover the later hours of the day, such as from 2 pm to 7 pm. -Flexibility is needed during flu season as some weekend rotation may be required. -There is potential for this position to transition into a full-time role with expanded responsibilities.

Compensation:

-Starting at $38/hour
