Description
Full-time tenure track position in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions to coordinate and teach in the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program. Responsibilities include teaching and evaluating students in clinical settings in various agencies. Additional responsibilities include supervision and assessment of all aspects of the CCMA program. Including but not limited to phlebotomy, EKG and medical assisting procedures. Additional functions of full time faculty include curriculum development implementation and assessment and serving on Division and College committees. May include assignment of courses in related areas and support courses. Assignments may include instruction at the main and branch campuses.
Travel between campuses for meetings, college activities, and professional development opportunities will be required. Examples of Duties
Maintains current certification in Medical Assisting. Instructs and evaluates students in various clinical settings. Coordinates all aspects of the CCMA program. Including instruction, lab, clinical and national testing competencies. Assists with recruitment and recommends qualified adjuncts to teach all courses in the CCMA program. Collaborates on the assessment of adjunct instruction in CCMA program. Assist with the development of assessment tools and collection of data for courses, clinical experiences and program outcomes for the CCMA program. Coordinates clinical sites for student assignments. Collaborates with clinical site leadership to ensure appropriate sites, student assignment, assessment and program requirements are met. Collaborates with department administration team for ensuring CCMA clinical contracts are up to date with agency and College requirements. Collaborates with department staff to ensure CCMA student health requirements are met. Coordinates purchasing, scheduling, student registration and appropriate proctoring for initial CCMA national exams. Develops and updates CCMA course syllabi and related materials to reflect contemporary CCMA practice. Collaborates with other faculty in the development of effective teaching/learning and retention strategies. Actively participates in the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the CCMA Program. Actively participates in the accreditation process for initial and continuing accreditation. Maintains necessary academic records and submits records according to published deadlines. Demonstrate fairness and flexibility in interactions with a diverse student population. Collaborates with department staff to ensure laboratory equipment is contemporary and adequate. Assists in the acquisition of related instructional materials and supplies. Participates in College governance and operations through Division and College committees. Contributes to the community as a representative of the College. Participates as CCMA program recruiter at College events. Fulfills campus-wide responsibilities. Maintains professional competence by participating in on-going clinical practice, continuing education, professional conferences, research, and writing relevant to faculty responsibilities. Meets clinical agency expectations such current BLS certification in CPR, health and Criminal history requirements and agency specific training. Earned Masters degree within two years of hire date. Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Health Science discipline from an accredited institution of higher education Current certificate in CCMA and/or Phlebotomy and/or EKG. Must be certified in all of the above within one year of employment. Minimum of 2 years' recent clinical experience in a healthcare setting Demonstrated leadership and teaching experience Demonstrated organizational skills Ability to design and implement successful pedagogical strategies for students exhibiting a broad range of abilities Utilization of innovative teaching methods incorporating technology, including online resources Commitment and ability to utilize instructional strategies to promote student recruitment, retention, and success Ability to help students adjust to the college academic community Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form Dedication to improving college course offerings by active participation in curriculum processes, including outcomes assessment Commitment to campus life by participation in college sponsored activities and functions Involvement with College Committees and Task Forces Proven commitment to scholarly achievement and professional growth Participation in community service Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
