Job Description Job Title: Surgical Technologist - Open Heart Surgery

Shift: Monday through Friday, 06:00 AM to 02:30 PM (plus on-call required)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist specializing in open heart surgery. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a first scrub in the operating room and will excel in preparing the surgical environment to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare the operating room, including establishing a sterile field and setting up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions. - Assist the surgeon during procedures by passing instruments, fluids, and supplies. - Manage the sterile field and handle specimens with precision. - Conduct counts of sponges and other supplies before, during, and after surgical procedures to prevent the retention of foreign objects. - Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a seamless workflow and address any equipment or supply needs. - Maintain knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring their proper functioning and cleanliness.

Qualifications:

- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program or an equivalent programmatically accredited surgical technology program. - Successful completion of the national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. - Proven expertise in scrubbing for open heart surgeries as the first scrub. - Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. - Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
