Assist passengers with translations on tours and onboard, maximize revenue in the Shore excursion department, ensure the highest possible satisfaction and safety of guests.
Holland America Line will offer Global Guest Assistants on a full time or seasonal position which allows for possible opportunities for advancement within Holland America Line Shore Excursions Team.
Key Responsibilities To function as a tour leader/ translator on our shore excursions for our Dutch Guests. Help achieve or exceed Shore Excursion revenue targets. Guide all guests on tour from the meeting point to the tour buses. Develop knowledge of established tour programs. Provide accurate accounts of guest experiences on each tour guided. Complete the Global Guest Assistant report after the conclusion of each port. Assist in the operations of the Shore Excursion Office, including guest sales and service on embarkation day as assigned by Shorex Manager You will be required to translate from English to Dutch on all assigned tours from start to finish. Participate in social functions as outlined in the Shore Excursions Procedures Manual. Perform other duties as assigned by the Shore Excursion Manager Perform presentations in foreign languages and translate documents as required by the Shore Excursion Manager. Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Minimum of 18 years old at the time of application. Excellent command of the English language and Dutch (or other European language if it becomes a specific need) Excellent report writing skills (Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint) Strong public speaking and communication skills Sales oriented Good organizational skills and take ownership. Be capable of working extended and irregular hours, 10 hours per day, 7 days a week. Be capable of acting according to rules of standard behaviour applicable within Holland America Line when dealing with guests and fellow colleagues. Be capable of demonstrating a correct and positive attitude when dealing with colleagues and guests. Be capable of independently solving problems and answering questions that arise from the changing practical situations on board. Be capable of dealing with different cultures of his colleagues and the guests Pride in company culture and dress. Flexibility and adaptability. Team Player.
