Labor & Delivery Travel RN – Nights (3x12, 19:00–07:30) New Jersey | Level II Facility | Manager Interview Required Unit Overview
Facility Type: Level II Labor & Delivery
Annual Deliveries: ~1,000
Beds:
7 LDRs
2 ORs (for C-sections)
3-bed L&D triage
20-bed Mother-Baby Unit
️ Shift & Schedule
Shift: 3x12-Hour Nights (19:00 – 07:30)
Weekends: Every other weekend required
Holidays: Must work Labor Day & 1 winter holiday
Scheduling: No block scheduling
Locals: Accepted
✅ Requirements
Experience: 1.5 years minimum (Required)
Traveler Type:
First-time travelers not accepted
Travel pairs not accepted
Licensure: NJ RN license required upon start
Certifications:
BLS
ACLS
NRP
FHM – Intermediate level
Patient Care & Ratios
2nd Stage Labor / C-Section / Post-Anesthesia Stage 1: 1:1
Active Labor: 1:2
Early Labor: 1:2–3
Triage: 1:3–4 (agency RNs not typically assigned, may assist with charge)
Float: May float to Mother/Baby unit
Required Skills & Experience
Antepartum care
External fetal monitoring (EFM) & IUPC use
Sterile speculum exams, NSTs, OCTs
Recognizing & treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
Strong IV skills (no PICC lines)
Administering:
Antihypertensives
Magnesium sulfate
Pitocin
Pain medications
C-section experience:
Circulating – REQUIRED
Scrubbing – Highly Preferred
Neonatal care in delivery room
Hospital Systems & Equipment
Charting:
AllScripts SCM (Sunrise Clinical Manager)
GE Centricity (Fetal surveillance & documentation)
Scrubs: Provided
