need 2 sup refs (charge accepted) at submittal; 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked
For Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years).
***PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE, THE DYS EXAM (BASIC) THROUGH UNA IS REQUIRED ALONG WITH ACCEPTANCE. MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 24-48 HRS. IT’S PASS OR FAIL AND THEY GET 2 ATTEMPTS (TEST A SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FIRST, TEST B SHOULD BE ASSIGNED FOR THE RETAKE). A SCREENSHOT SHOWING THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS IS REQUIRED.
We can accept the Relias basic Dys exam within the last 12mo if the traveler has previously taken
If your traveler fails the 2nd attempt, they will be made DNU for CommonSpirit AZ and Sac

Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictates
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holidays: Rotate in with core staff
Scrub Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
Vents: No
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes, Hospitalist or Intensivist
IV Team: No
RT 24/7: Yes
Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
Shifts: 12 hr shifts. 7 - 730. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available.
Floating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.
Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
Common diagnosis / Types of patients: All medical - general mix. Post op orthopedics and general surgieries.
Additional Notes: Need good customer service skills and communication skills. This is a very team-oriented environment. They do not often have travelers, but very much appreciate them when they do.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. They communicate with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
Current and valid state RN License.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
EKG certification required within 30 days of hire.
Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
