The role you'll contribute:
The Respiratory Therapist I (entry level practitioner) performs all necessary routine respiratory care procedures associated with acute or critically ill neonatal, pediatric, or adult patient populations and is able to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. He/she initiates and maintains appropriate therapy, including life support technique and equipment. Provides, preventable, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardio-pulmonary system in assigned patient care areas in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and all applicable regulations and standards. Applies the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate interactions with staff, patients, and families of all ages. Minimum competency in all applicable clinical skills must be demonstrated and maintained. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
The value you'll bring to the team:
Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators to include basic conventional modes of ventilation per policy and procedure.
Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart review, and confers with multidisciplinary team to determine efficacy of therapy in a cost and time efficient manner making appropriate recommendations and changes per department protocol.
Performs airway maintenance including: proper use of manual resuscitators, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, and airway suctioning.
Performs respiratory and oxygen delivery therapies and makes recommendations to the most efficient delivery method per protocol.
Obtains, analyzes and reports findings of arterial blood gases and co-oximetry; performs quality controls as needed.
Responds to all Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association and performs other duties as directed.
Interprets evaluations and test results to determine appropriate treatment plans in consultation with interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies.
Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
High School Grad or Equiv Required
Technical/Vocational School Required
One or more years of Work Experience Preferred
ABG Puncture and Analysis
Medicated Aerosol Therapies and applications, Bronchial Hygiene Therapies, Lung Expansion Therapies
Basic Spirometry
Oscillatory Chest Physiotherapy Applications
CPR and basic Airway Management and Suctioning
Non-Invasive Bilevel Application & Management
Respiratory Monitoring Pulse oximetry Applications
Application Non-Invasive Oxygen Therapies & devices
Non-Invasive End Tidal Co2 Capnography Application & Monitoring
Adult Basic Conventional Ventilator Management & Applications
Routine Oxygen Delivery, Devices, and Oximetry
Utilize and adapt to State of the Art Technology, Computer Systems and Applications
Effective Oral and Written Communication
Basic pediatric and/or neonatal respiratory care skills
Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Required
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Required
