Description
Acts as a technical support and performs basic administrative and organizational tasks in a pharmaceutical setting.
Essential Functions: Answers department phone, takes/routes messages and provides basic and/or routine information to inquiries in compliance with established patient confidentiality standards. Files reports, notes, correspondence, etc. as needed. Receives and distributes mail. Copies documents as directed. Maintains confidential patient information in accordance with established standards and policies. Receives patient data, reviews demographic data and collects additional data necessary Assists with performing visual inventory of stock items; re-orders standard items to provide for availability of supplies for optimum efficient unit operations. Collects and maintains a variety of statistical data of patient visits. As directed, prepares requisitions and reports for maintenance repairs. Enters new/refill prescriptions information into the system to provide for accuracy of patient information and prescriptions. Receives and reviews prescription or refill requests, determining kind, strength, dosage and verify accuracy; referring discrepancies to the pharmacist. Receives and restocks clinic drug supply orders and computes drug/supply amounts. Responds too routine inquires and refers requests for new/replacement medications to the Pharmacist. Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives. Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor. Preforms other duties as assigned Requirements
One year of pharmacy or healthcare experience preferred Six months of customer service and/or clerical experience; health care setting preferred High School Diploma or GED equivalent BLS certification preferred
