Must-Have: - Demonstrated positioning competency - Knowledge of breast self-examinations - Ability to lift, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking
Description: The Mammography Technologist performs radiographic mammography procedures. These procedures produce high-quality diagnostic films for detecting breast tissue abnormalities. This position works independently and requires a variety of procedures that involve judgment, creativity, and initiative.
Responsibilities include ensuring proper patient identification and order verification. The technologist prepares the patient for the exam. Radiologic mammography exams are performed per departmental protocol, including advanced procedures. Examples of advanced procedures include stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, and drainages.
The technologist operates mammographic equipment to ensure high-quality diagnostic images. Appropriate use of equipment and techniques is essential for producing these images. Clienttion protection is utilized to ensure the safety of patients and staff while meeting safety program requirements.
It is important to stay current on new procedures and equipment to maintain high-level skills. Records required by regulatory agencies must be maintained accurately. Thorough documentation is necessary, including time stamps and image storage.
