Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their financial records, while also driving process improvements and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Oversee and manage general ledger accounting, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for cost optimization or efficiency improvements.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and provide necessary documentation.
Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and providing constructive feedback.
Lead or contribute to special projects, including system implementations, process enhancements, and financial analysis initiatives.
Leverage advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas) to create and refine financial models and reports.
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and innovation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or working towards certification is highly preferred.
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or public accounting environment.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas; experience with macros is a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and analytical skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) is required.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff is a plus.
