We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Construction Estimator
with proven experience in
site preparation, earthwork, and heavy civil construction . The ideal candidate is proficient with
Trimble Data Collectors & Trimble Business Center , has working knowledge of
AutoCAD , and preferably experience using
HCSS HeavyBid
for developing accurate cost estimates. This position will play a key role in preparing competitive bids and supporting project teams from pre-bid through handoff. Overview: $90-120k/yr - negotiable! Located in the Peoria, AZ area Heavy civil construction, all earth-moving/concrete! Small but mighty team - competes with the big contractors in the area Company owns the heavy equipment Family vibe! Use
Trimble Business Center
and
Trimble Data Collectors
for takeoffs and data analysis, including point cloud or topographic data. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using digital software, CAD, and survey data. Develop cost estimates using
HCSS HeavyBid , including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes. Review design documents to identify potential cost impacts, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field staff to understand project requirements and ensure alignment between estimate and execution. Prepare and submit RFI's, scope clarifications, and bid proposals. Maintain estimating databases, cost history, and pricing updates. Participate in bid reviews, pre-bid meetings, and subcontractor/vendor coordination. Requirements: 3+ years
of experience as a construction estimator, ideally in
site work, grading, excavation, or civil construction . Proficient in Trimble systems , including
Trimble Data Collectors
and
Trimble Business Center . Experience using
HCSS HeavyBid
or similar estimating software. Working knowledge of
AutoCAD
for reading and extracting information from civil/site plans. Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and cost codes. Strong understanding of earthwork methods, material types, equipment rates, and production calculations. Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Preferred Qualifications: Field experience in construction (operator, foreman, or project engineer background a plus). Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (not required with adequate experience). Experience with drone data, GPS modeling, or 3D site models is a plus.
