Under the supervision of the Director, Cardiovascular Services, and with guidance from the Device Clinic/Stress Lab Supervisor, performs duties as assigned that include communication, reception, secretarial and operational for office practice, while serving as the liaison between the patient, other staff, and the physician(s).

Initiates implementation of processes and/or has access to all operational components of the office as required by daily operations.

•Receptionist duties as evidenced by observation, staff, and physician feedback and patient survey comments. o Receives, greets and directs patients, visitors, physicians and hospital staff arriving on or calling the department. o Acts as a focus of communication in the department regarding patient care activities and services and can provide information and direction regarding the same. o Communicates with patients, families and hospital or medical personnel and refers questions and concerns to the appropriate staff member for response. o Maintains confidentiality of patients-no breeches of confidentiality; no related complaints voiced on patient satisfaction surveys; no related complaints by fellow care providers of observed incidences. o Respects dignity of patients. o Observed to call patient by proper name o Maintains patient privacy while working with patient and during conversation.

•Operational/Clerical/Secretarial Activities as evidenced by observation, staff feedback, and comments from patient satisfaction surveys. o Accurately records and delivers messages for patients and staff. o Maintains enough clerical supplies and equipment needed for operation of the department. o Maintains a clean, safe and functional working environment within the department.

•Transcriptionist Activities o Files diagnostic and other reports as needed reports are filed and available when needed. o Retrieves data from MIS system or compiles statistical data when requested by Manager and/or Director-follow through is observed by Manager and/or Director.

•Other Duties o Communicates all pertinent patient care information and general environmental information to Director or designee. o Attends unit staff meetings, and in-service education programs as prescribed by hospital standards. Serves as the recording secretary as needed for any unit meetings as requested. -meets Augusta Health continuing education requirements. o Assists department manager and/or director with typing needs and other secretarial duties as needed. o Initiates patient charges through the MIS system per hospital policy. o Assists with the scheduling of patients per departmental guidelines. o Is knowledgeable of resources to address specific needs of various age groups including adult, geriatric and pediatric patients. o Performs duties appropriately for specific age group. o Consult with other staff when needed for specific age group. o Promotes harmonious relationships and positive attitudes among the health care team as evidenced by positive commendation and lack of complaints.

Education

•High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

•Previous experience in clerical or receptionist position, at least one year

•Medical Assistant training or equivalent of two years physician's practice experience preferred.

•Coding experience preferred.
