Finance Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team at Associated Materials, a leading manufacturer of windows, siding, and metal products. The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations within the plant, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting operational decision-making. This role is critical in helping achieve operational efficiency, cost control, and profitability. Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly closing process, including financial reporting on variances, labor efficiencies, material variances, and cost of goods produced. Understand and present monthly variance analysis to understand financial trends and drive plant performance improvements. Work with corporate controllership and finance as the key financial liaison for plant-level results to complete the monthly financial close. Monitor budget performance and collaborate with plant leadership to implement corrective actions. Analyze production costs to identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities. Provide cost estimates and profitability analysis for new products and business opportunities. Assist in annual budget and quarterly forecast processes. Build and maintain forecasted labor and overhead rates for strategic planning. Oversee inventory valuation, monitor cycle counts, and ensure inventory accuracy. Assist in capital budgeting and investment analysis for plant expansion or upgrades. Serve as the financial lead on plant initiatives, working cross-functionally to drive cost efficiency. Maintain presence on the shop floor to understand processes and build relationships with teams. Report on manufacturing KPIs to assess operational efficiency and costs. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. CPA or CMA preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Skills & Competencies:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent communication skills for presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. Proactive, self-motivated, results-driven, with high integrity and ethical standards. Experience with standard costing and variance management. Support implementation of system enhancements and reporting tools. Strong understanding of manufacturing financial principles.
