What are we looking for in a Chief Medical Officer? The Chief Medical Officer for Comprehensive Healthcare will providesupervision, consultation, and leadership to promote the delivery of clinical services which meet high standards for quality and effectiveness. The schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. CMO duties include: Conducts and documents on-going clinical supervision consistent with Comprehensive Healthcare’s policies and procedures, and consistent with the requirements for the supervised employee’s professional credentials. Assesses clinical skills, gives constructive feedback, and provides (or arranges for) training and coaching to promote the development of technical skills, therapeutic approaches, and strength-based interventions appropriate for the client population served. Creates a continuing education plan and designs and tracks learning objectives to support new skill development consistent with job requirements. Effectively and legally interviews applicants and makes appropriate staff selections. Follows policies and procedures for corrective action relating to staff performance. Provides sound supervision to all direct reports which include appropriate and frequent performance feedback. Supports employees in skill development and goal attainment. Completes performance evaluations in a timely and thorough manner. Appropriately utilizes the Human Resources Department as needed and required. Provides direction, supervision, coaching, training and regular performance feedback to build employee skills and support progress toward goals. Creates training and development plans to support new employees to be successful. Assists with the development of the team budget and monitors budget throughout the year. Monitors program plan adherence to ensure quality service delivery. Collaborates with the Human Resources Department on hiring, retention and corrective actions. Communicates relevant matters to direct reports timely and effectively. Initiates and maintains projects or programs consistent with policy. Develops, implements and oversees the execution of critical clinical procedures. Develops protocols for and provides consultation to staff as required. Provides input to enhance the function of quality assurance and utilization review activities. Provides medical/psychiatric leadership in refining psychiatric emergency services. Establishes psychiatric hospital alternative programs. Works closely with other organizations in caring for persons in crisis. Servesas primary liaison to the medical communities in all of the agency’s service areas. Assists in developing new programs and mental health services that are responsive to client/community needs, clinically effective and financially viable. Participates short and long term strategic planning for the agency and participates in developing goals and objectives to attain strategic goals. Routinely reports to the Leadership Team and President/CEO regarding the status of strategic plans, issues and opportunities. Develops,implements, and refines a model of clinical leadership which promotes competence and collaboration as the basis for helping multidisciplinary work groups to function optimally. Assures that clients receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Ensures appropriate standards of medical treatment are maintained throughout the agency. Works to identify problem areas impacting quality of care and in designing and implementing corrective action plans. Provides consultation and in-service training. Assists in the design and implementation of clinical staff development and staff training activities. Qualifications This role requires a highly qualified and credentialed physician with both clinical and administrative expertise in behavioral health. The ideal candidate should be a board-certified psychiatrist (MD or DO) with at least five years of leadership experience overseeing multidisciplinary mental health teams in a community-based setting. Key Requirements & Considerations: Education & Credentials: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) – Required Board Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology – Required Washington State Physician and Surgeon License – Active license required Federal DEA certification – Must be current Experience: A minimum of 5 years of administrative/management experience in a community mental health organization. Demonstrated ability to supervise psychiatrists, nurses, and behavioral health professionals. Experience in integrating clinical oversight with compliance and policy implementation. Other Requirements: Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and 2 years of driving experience. In compliance with state and federal law, Comprehensive Healthcare requires all candidates to complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
