JOB SUMMARY

Service excellence and a culture of kindness are priorities for Sheridan Memorial Hospital. The Good Faith Estimate (GFE) Processor will review and analyze medical records to determine appropriate assignment of ICD-10-CM and CPT to reflect patient diagnoses and procedures. Will create good faith estimates based on patient appointment details using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and payer pay codes. Responsible for mailing good faith estimate letters per the No Surprises Act requirements. Ensures compliance with all legal and procedural requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews and creates GFE letters for patient's scheduled appointments within the hospital and clinics in accordance to the No Surprises Act. Creates GFE letter per patient request. Mails GFE letter per required time frame specified by the No Surprises Act. Complies with all legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practices. Maintains Sheridan Memorial Hospital compliance with the No Surprises Act. Be the primary contact and resource for intra department contact regarding the GFE, ICD-10-CM, CPT and cost. Identifies opportunities to improve the GFE process. Works with the Patient Accounts manager and supervisor to implement process improvements. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience/Licenses and Certifications

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). Minimum one year in a healthcare environment, preferred. Knowledge of third party payers and associate regulations, preferred. Proficiency in operating a computer and ability to learn and use computer applications. Additional Skills

Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate proficiently in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from providers, clinical staff, payers, and patients. Ability to write clearly and informatively; excellent spelling skills. Ability to use analytical thinking, independent judgment and clinical knowledge to adjust service area schedules and accommodate special requests from internal and external customers. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or scheduled form.

Computer Skills

Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficient with the EMR system.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to use analytical thinking, independent judgment and clinical knowledge to adjust service area schedules and accommodate special requests from internal and external customers. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or scheduled form.

Understanding of medical terminology, grammar, punctuation, style, and editing. Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and organization during high volume periods, with the ability to consistently prioritize, meet changing deadlines, and troubleshoot problems. Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and systems. Good Faith Estimate Processor will be trained to become proficient and maintain the standardized benchmarks for the department. Ability to exercise tact, judgment and persuasiveness in creating and maintaining harmonious relations in working with coworkers, patients, families, visitors, physicians, and the general public.
