Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a
Tax Manager
at our Corporate office in
Richmond, Virginia . This position will be responsible for managing the domestic income tax function for North America. This position reviews tax compliance, accounting for income taxes, federal and state audits, as well as communication and collaboration, both internally and externally.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the successful candidate, you will ensure timely and accurate staff prepared federal and state income tax returns and their various components.
Your additional responsibilities as the Tax Manager will include:
Reviews staff prepared various US federal and state non-income tax filings Reviews staff prepared various supporting tax calculations and workpapers Leads federal and state tax inquiries and audits Prepares miscellaneous tax forms and filings as required for US and international locations Reviews and posts the calculation of monthly and annual tax provisions, including tax workpaper preparation and analysis of current and deferred taxes Assists with federal, state research, planning, and projects Takes initiative to complete tasks ahead of time without being asked Pursues training and development opportunities to build knowledge and skills Communicates professionally and effectively to upper management Skills/ Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum 6+ years of public or corporate tax experience Analytical, time management, and decision-making skills Highly motivated individual with the ability to multitask Understanding of concepts regarding tax laws and tax accounting practices and procedures Strong knowledge of tax research methods with ability to interpret tax laws, to prepare general tax research memorandums, and to formulate recommendations for management Displays strong leadership and mentoring skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP software, SAP a plus Experience in tax software, Corptax a plus Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills Preference for CPA and/or master's in taxation or equivalent experience
