General Description:

The Richmond Adult Technical Center (RATC) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated

Part-Time Instructional Assistant

to support evening instructional programs. This role requires a

certified teacher/instructor

with demonstrated experience in

curriculum development and pacing guide creation . Under the direction of the classroom instructor and program coordinator, the instructional assistant will support both instructional and administrative functions in a career and technical education environment, helping adult learners progress toward academic and career success. Evening work hours in a classroom and technical lab environment. May involve periods of standing, walking, lifting, or carrying instructional materials. Must be able to assist in technical program areas, as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist instructors with the delivery of instruction and classroom facilitation. Provide one-on-one and small group support to adult learners to reinforce lesson content. Support classroom and lab organization, including setup and cleanup of materials and equipment. Contribute to the development and implementation of pacing guides and instructional plans. Assist in aligning lesson content with curriculum standards and program outcomes. Monitor student participation and behavior, promoting a safe and respectful environment. Maintain accurate records, including attendance, assignment tracking, and student progress. Provide clerical support such as copying materials, preparing handouts, and maintaining files. Operate standard classroom equipment and educational technology platforms. Collaborate with instructors and administrators to support instructional goals and program improvement. Perform additional duties as assigned by the instructor or program coordinator. Qualifications:

Must hold a

valid teaching license or instructor certification (in any appropriate content area). Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and creating pacing guides is required. High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary coursework or degree preferred. Previous experience working with adult learners or in a classroom setting is strongly preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office, email, and digital learning platforms. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced educational environment. Committed to supporting adult learners and promoting a culture of lifelong learning.
