Kauai Air Conditioning & Plumbing, a local mechanical contractor, is looking for a hard-working and motivated individual to join their team as an HVAC Technician. Being on time, reliable, hardworking and taking initiative is essential.

Candidates must have outstanding interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, be detailed oriented, computer literate, and possess problem-solving skills.

The HVAC Technician works under the supervision of the HVAC Lead. The primary function of the HVAC Technician is to assist in the installation of residential HVAC systems.

Job Functions

Assist HVAC Lead and other HVAC Technicians with the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of a variety of HVAC systems. EPA Certified or able to obtain EPA Certification Able to install slim duct, condensate drain lines with proper slope and bracing, control wire, refrigeration piping, and line-sets to include proper flaring of fittings. Understands and can identify common pipe fittings, materials, and the different types of residential HVAC equipment typically installed (one-way cassettes, wall mounted indoor units, condensers, exhaust fans, etc.) Able to properly mount indoor/evaporator units, place/mount condensers, install thermostats, insulate refrigerant and condensate piping, and charge HVAC systems with supervision. Able to braze/solder and pressure test systems with nitrogen to identify potential leaks. Basic understanding of refrigerant pressures, and to perform system evacuations to include pumping down systems, and pressure testing with supervision. Basic understanding of electrical and control systems, able to understand plans, electrical diagrams and scope of work. Understanding layout and install equipment, refrigerant piping, and condensate drains with minimal supervision. Basic understanding of superheat and subcooling. Familiarize with using common tools and materials on jobsites Perform work with a focus on Safety and Quality. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized job site. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work vehicle. Take responsibility for safety performance and program compliance. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to work outside on roofs and in attics/crawlspaces. Any additional duties/responsibilities deemed necessary. Essential Values Required
