Job Summary Reporting to the Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs, the Events Manager oversees the strategic planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of university and external events that strengthen community engagement, alumni connections, and the public image of the institution. This role drives revenue generation through campus space rentals, sponsorships, and high-impact event programming, while ensuring seamless logistics from concept to completion. Responsibilities include budgeting, marketing, vendor relations and contract negotiation. The manager maintains the master event calendar, tracks performance and revenue metrics, and balances administrative duties with hands-on event management in a fast-paced environment. Success in this position requires exceptional organizational skills, creativity, resourcefulness, and a results-driven approach. NOTE:

Collaborates closely with campus constituencies to strategically plan events that will advance the relationships between the university and its communities; demonstrates a high level of creativity, resourcefulness, strategic planning, and dynamic decision-making with a significant impact on the overall university image and success. Interacts with external audiences including major donors, community and state leaders, corporate sponsors, vendors and internal audiences Manages rental of campus space to internal and external constituents. Maintains a calendar of events that maximizes potential impact and benefits to the Institution. Ensure seamless execution of all operational aspects of events, including logistics, staffing, vendor management, and coordination of all physical and digital event elements. Establish and monitor event-related key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring high standards of service delivery and guest satisfaction. Oversee budgeting and financial forecasting for events and venue-related projects, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Continuously identify and implement operational efficiencies, leveraging technology and best practices to optimize processes. Develop and implement strategies to increase event-related sales, including partnerships and venue rentals. Work with key vendors to integrate event offerings into broader sales strategies, targeting key markets and revenue streams. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, external vendors, clients, and partners. Regularly update leadership on event performance, venue utilization, and sales efforts, offering data-driven insights and recommendations for improvement. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, management and staging, or very closely related duties Experience supporting in-person events or working in a fast-paced office environment Possession of a valid driver's license Proficient in use of scheduling software Demonstrated ability to plan and design unique event themes that further strategic initiatives of an organization; Background and/or credit check may be required. Proposed Salary The proposed salary is $51,500.00 to $55,000.00 annually. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of: Project management principles and practices; University operations and administration principles and practices; Policy and procedure development and implementation practices; Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes and/or statutes. Management and supervisory principles and practices. Business principals, planning, modeling, and development of related business reports (P&L, Sales & Revenue, Marketing, etc.) Working with a database; familiarity with Ad Astra or other events management platforms is a plus. Skills in: Coordinating activities with other internal departments and/or external agencies and vendors; Communicating effectively through oral and written mediums; Remaining calm under high pressure/difficult situations. Ability to: Maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions Pay attention to details with emphasis on accuracy Give, receive, and analyze information Formulate work plans and articulate goals and action plans.
