Job Title Controls Technician

Job Description Summary This person will be responsible for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of plant instrumentation and controls equipment. This includes but is not limited to transmitters, sensors, switches, valves, motors, VFDs, lighting, HVAC controls, LSS Controls, Fire Alarm, etc. The technician will be responsible for supporting the Project Managers and Engineers in the execution and commissioning of project activities in manufacturing and support areas.

Job Description

This person will be responsible for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of plant instrumentation and controls equipment. This includes but is not limited to transmitters, sensors, switches, valves, motors, VFDs, lighting, HVAC controls, LSS Controls, Fire Alarm, etc. The technician will be responsible for supporting the Project Managers and Engineers in the execution and commissioning of project activities in manufacturing and support areas.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Oversight of contractors' work in the field, ensuring that all work is conducted in a safe and interruption-free manner.

Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, chemical, and controls system drawings.

Ability perform rapid and accurate situational assessments, troubleshoot system components, identify causes of failure, determine appropriate corrective actions, and implement these corrections without creating additional system impacts.

Ability to analyze data trends to online system operations to verify testing, startup, and commissioning functions as designed.

Develop parts list, acquire quotes, and enter purchase requests for project work.

Provide technical support to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Sustaining teams.

Desire the ability to update controls systems drawings.

Desire the ability to support low voltage electrical systems.

Minimum requirements:

High school diploma/GED with 8 years of relevant experience or 5 years of experience with an Associate's Degree

Computer/software skills - Outlook, Excel, Word

Understanding of instrumentation, control systems, PLCs, Life Safety, and Fire Alarm and ENS systems

Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems and their interface with system controls and instrumentation

Preferred qualifications:

Self-starter requiring little direction to identify and solve problems

Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills

Ability to interface professionally and effectively with all levels

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
