The EHS Manager will be responsible for managing Operational Risk Management (ORM) processes that include Safety and Health, Environment, Business Continuity, Facility Security and Department of Transportation (DOT).The primary purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and KKSP policies/procedures and processes.In addition, this position involves the identification and communication of operational risks within the factory, and the development of business strategies to mitigate those risks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide overall EH&S leadership, mentoring and direction to plant and management team members to ensure employee health and the environment are protected. Conduct and supervise activities to ensure compliance with government regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and corporate policies. Provides leadership and builds partnerships across all levels of the organization to foster EHS culture improvement with strategic action plans. Continuously improve the EHS management system at the facility. Establish strategies and programs to proactively identify facility safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organizations operations and develop plans to eliminate or control those hazards. Lead the development and implementation of the EHS Annual Operating Plans and EHS Action Plans for the location. Achieve annual targets rates for Lost Time, Recordable, Severity, and Environmental. Ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and environmental regulations. Conduct EHS activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements, KKSP Management System standards, Emergency Response and internal KKSP EHS procedures. Complete root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry-recognized cause analysis techniques. Manage OSHA actions such as, but not limited to, inspections, letters of noncompliance, informal conferences. Facilitate EHS training and orientation as needed. Identify EHS related training requirements for associates and support processes to ensure training effectiveness and compliance. Ensure all EHS related records are accurately maintained/organized and in compliance with local, state, and national requirements or any other regulatory agency rules and regulations. Determination and implementation of environmental sustainability initiatives to minimize water use, greenhouse gas generation, hazardous waste generation and increase recycling rate. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Safety and Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent Minimum 3- 5 years experience in manufacturing EHS Ability to communicate effectively with and work with all levels of the organization and external agencies Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a result driven, team-oriented environment Maintain confidentiality Make independent decisions Demonstrate excellent organizational skills Use PC and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Demonstrated ability to research regulations, develop a program and successfully operationalize within a business. Professional designations such as a Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM), 30-hour OSHA Certified, Certification in Ergonomics, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Associate Safety professional (ASP) desirable WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasional time spent standing, walking and sitting. Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation for most duties. Exposure to manufacturing environment with elevated noise levels and machine lubrication oils for periods of time. Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.
