Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. We are looking for a Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at Buckley Space Force Base! Our team deploys Linux based ground systems for a large missile defense contract. We provide a combination of Linux system design, administration, and sustainment (no Windows!), cyber security, network and hardware engineering, algorithm development, and analysis. Currently, we run a mix of bare metal and virtual environments and working towards monolithic and containerized applications. This is a site lead role that will learn the processes of the site, provide system engineering functions, quick turn analysis on real world events, and provide guidance to other team members at the site. The team is currently made up of system administrators pushing heavily towards virtual environments or running exclusively containerized microservices, however the system is made up of RHEL 7 and 9 servers and other hardware supporting various missions. The successful candidate will be a motivated individual that possesses technical and problem-solving skills necessary for quickly developing recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative data. This is someone who can understand the general problem space and is confident in explaining the different insights generated from the data. The primary tools used in this job will be RHEL, python, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, VMware, and OpenShift. The expectation for this role is to work mostly at Buckley Space Force Base, with paid travel to Boulder, CO, and Colorado Springs, CO. This is an on-site role within a SCIF requiring TS security clearance and CI Poly. The expectation for this position is 40 hours per week. Work hours are standard, Monday - Friday, and are flexible around core hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. We are a flexible team that values time away from work. A Top-Secret security clearance is required to start on day one, as this role will be working on a classified system(s). A CI-Poly is not required to start, but the ability pass a CI Poly is required for the position. US citizenship is also required to start on day one. Job duties include: Site lead to cover site processes, system engineering functions, oversee updates/modification to the architecture, on-site coordination with government sponsors, team guidance, and coordinate operational activities in support of Real-World Operations Sustainment of multiple Linux and virtual systems on Buckley Space Force Base Troubleshoot software, HW, and OS to restore operational status Technical presentations and analysis reports as required Performance analysis of missile tracking Monitor and maintain system status, application SME Ground and Flight Test support Track/log Real World Events Basic qualifications include: DoD Top Secret clearance that is or has been active within the last two years and SCI eligibility. Level 3: Bachelor's STEM degree and 5 years of relevant experience Level 4: Bachelor's STEM degree and 8 years of relevant experience Linux: Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux systems, preferably RedHat 6/7/8/9 Experience with missile trajectory analysis Familiarity with the Ballistic Missile Defense System Familiarity with Overhead Persistent Infrared Hardware: Experience with NetApp, RSA, Cisco, and HPE servers Virtualization: Hands-on experience with VMware, preferable vSphere 7. Preferred qualifications include: CI-Poly - required to be passed Experience in an operational environment Understanding of basic statistics Experience in performance analysis, requirements verification, validation, and working with algorithms Networking: Basic understanding of IPv4 fundamentals, preferably in the context of containers and virtualization. Coding: Experience writing automation for Linux in at least one general-purpose language, such as Ansible (YAML), Python, bash, Groovy, Javascript, etc. Git: pulling, committing, pushing, creating and reviewing pull requests, resolving merge conflicts, branching methodologies, rebasing, etc. Cyber security: Knowledgeable in any of the following: SonarQube, DISA STIGs, NIST RMF, zero trust, secure-by-design, Splunk, ACAS, encryption, PKI, identity management, etc. DoD 8570 IAT Level II (or higher) Certification: CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CCNA, etc Northrop Grumman offers a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment that supports your growth while fostering the success of both employees and the company.
