1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants Direct message the job poster from Barnes Farming The Accountant is a key member of the Barnes accounting team, working under the direction of the CFO. The Accountant is responsible for the following responsibilities: Fixed Assets accounting including the capitalization of fixed assets; disposal of retired assets; monthly booking of depreciation expense and balance sheet reconciliation. Ensure the proper tracking of company liabilities including monthly reconciliation and the maintaining of debt amortization schedules. Inventory - calculation of Barnes monthly inventory and related enter journal entries needed to book cost of goods sold. Work with the operations staff to investigate inventory variances as needed. Subledger reconciliations - responsible for the daily and monthly general ledger reconciliation of accounting subledgers including, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and goods received/ not invoiced. Work to balance subledgers when needed. Responsible for maintaining financial schedules and the related journal entries for prepaid insurance, property tax accruals, interest expense accruals, debt placement cost. Special projects - assist the CFO and other members of the Barnes management team with special projects as needed. Support the accurate and timely completion of the external audit of Barnes Farming. The successful candidate will communicate effectively and efficiently. He or she will also adapt well to changing requirements and conditions in a fast-paced farming environment. Proficient with Microsoft Excel. Minimum of 3 years experience in similar accounting position and an accounting degree required. Competitive salary commensurate with experience. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Barnes Farming Corporation began in 1960 and is located in Spring Hope, North Carolina.
