Medical Assistant
Under direct supervision, assists physician/providers in care of patients in an office setting. Performs direct patient care such as phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, wound care, medication administration, and vital signs. Maintains supplies, follows standing orders, assists with pre-visit planning, and provides population management support. Serves as a quality and safety role model for medical office staff. Education
High School, GED, OR Certificate of training from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Program and National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant Experience
Five years of experience necessary to include completion of training and certification. Successful completion of accredited MA training program through Fortis, Community College Baltimore County, Allegany College of MD, Anne Arundel Community College, CCBC, Harford Community College, and PG Community College. Skills
Knowledge of medical terminology Skill in using techniques for phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, medication administration, and taking vital signs Skill in written and oral communication Ability to distinguish normal from abnormal diagnostic results Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills in an EMR environment preferred Licensures, Certifications
Certificate of training from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant Program and National Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand for up to eighty percent (80%) of work time. Working Conditions
Exposure to disinfectant and detergent solutions. Exposure to human specimens Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs direct patient care in an office such as takes and records vital signs, perform routine diagnostic tests, administers medications, prepares patients for exams, performs EKG's, records any pertinent medical information in EMR. Maintains screening/examination schedule. Evaluates patients for schedule of appropriate preventive or other care such as immunizations, eye exams, PAP smears, pain management, or wound care. Responds to patient questions. Assists patient with dressing and undressing, getting off and on examination table. Chaperones patient as needed during examinations. Reviews diagnostic results and reports abnormal results to physician/providers. Reconciles diagnostic reports with clinical orders. Cleans exam room between patient exams; maintains cleanliness and order of exam rooms. Stocks and orders supplies; sterilizes medical equipment, and performs medical office clerical duties as assigned. Supports population management and pre-visit planning activities to include communication with patients between visits and responding to any provider or patient needs. Takes a lead role in inventory and ordering of stocks to include medications, vaccines, and medical supplies. Maintains a system to rotate, identify, and dispose of expired medical supplies. Oversees pharmaceutical sample inventory and utilization. Verify samples are signed in and out and checked for expiration dates. Becomes certified on all CLIA waived testing. Certifies MA's within the practice annually. Monitors and ensures safe storage and handling of all vaccines per policy. All Roles Must Demonstrate GBMC Values:

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with our organizational needs.
