Growing Chicago firm in the West Loop area seeking a Personal Injury Paralegal in the litigation department. Position provides heavy client contact and the ability to hone litigation skills. Responsibilities
Pleadings
•Draft pleadings, summons, complaints, notices of filings, notices of motion, and supporting affidavits. •Prepare draft court orders. •E-file pleadings with the court. •Calendar hearing dates and filing deadlines. •Organize case files.
Discovery
•Draft interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and other discovery. •Client contact to develop responses and other requests. •Calendar discovery deadlines. •Organize, review, and analyze documents for production. •Prepare deposition summaries.
Pre-Trial
•Prepare and issue subpoenas. •Manage scheduling and communication for depositions.
Trial
•Organize exhibits, documents, and evidence. •Prepare and issue subpoenas. •Act as liaison between clients, witnesses, experts, and the trial team.
Qualifications
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. to be considered for this position. •Critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills are essential. •Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook is a must. •Bachelor's degree holders will be given preference, although paralegal certification is desirable. •Prior paralegal experience of two years is preferred.
