Controls and Automation Engineer
to join our manufacturing team in Grand Prairie, TX. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting factory-based electrical control systems and automation equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLCs, HMI design, and industrial automation systems. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and troubleshoot electrical control systems and machinery. Program and support PLC-based hardware/software (e.g., Allen-Bradley). Test and maintain electronic equipment used in manufacturing and power transmission. Troubleshoot electrical issues on conveyor systems, motors, drives, and pumps. Use CAD and engineering software for design and documentation. Evaluate and improve existing systems for reliability and performance. Develop and modify operator interfaces and automation platforms. Ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA-70E safety standards. Supervise and guide maintenance technicians as needed. Analyze production requirements and implement cost-effective solutions. Perform technical calculations for electrical and robotic systems. Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Support the build and validation of automation systems including pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, and robotic integration. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field. Minimum 2+ years of experience in Electrical Controls/System Engineering. Proficiency in ladder logic programming (Allen-Bradley: PLC5, SLC, ControlLogix 50005580). Experience with HMI design tools (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, LabVIEW). Familiarity with Ethernet/IP and basic networking. Knowledge of plant power distribution and motor control systems. Understanding of robotic programming and teach points. Preferred Skills Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Ability to work independently and in team environments. Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
