The

Operations and Maintenance Technician (Mechanic)

is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all mechanical equipment at the St. Charles Energy Center. This role ensures the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of turbines, generators, pumps, valves, piping systems, and auxiliary equipment by troubleshooting, repair, and regular preventive maintenance of plant systems. Individuals who have demonstrated experience in a multi-skill set that are needed at power plants are preferred.

The St Charles Energy Center is 2x1 gas fired combined cycle facility utilizing GE 7FA.05 Gas Turbines and D11 Steam Turbine. The facility uses beneficial reuse, or reclaim, water in a counterflow cooling tower for condenser cooling. The 745 MW facility is interconnected to PEPCO and sells power into the PJM market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Identify mechanical problems through inspections, testing, and troubleshooting procedures. Utilize precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, laser alignment tools, etc.) for equipment alignment and condition assessment. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions Ability to read ISO drawings and PID's. Knowledge in the diagnoses and repair of several different types of control valves, block valves and manual isolation valves. Skilled and proficient in laser alignment of high-speed pumps, motors, compressors, and fans. Ability to perform vibration analysis on all critical equipment. Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing MOV and AOV actuators. Ability to repair mechanical components of auxiliary equipment to include air compressors, dryers, filter systems, purifiers, large water pumps, piping repairs, heat exchangers, and associated equipment. Responds to station power outages and equipment failures as required. Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability. Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records. Assist in operation of plant equipment and systems as directed. Fully support and participate in Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs Promotes and works with others in a team environment. Complete required operations/maintenance training and qualification programs. Must make expeditious appropriate decision to non-routine plant operating situations. Assist in planned outages, overhauls, and major maintenance activities. Work closely with operations, I&C, and electrical teams to coordinate maintenance tasks and ensure plant reliability. Maintain detailed maintenance records, reports, and work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Follow all safety protocols, plant procedures, and environmental regulations. Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other industry safety standards. Other duties as assigned Requirements

5-7+ years of relevant experience in power plants or equivalent military experience. Expertise in mechanical maintenance of combined-cycle plants; GE 7FA combustion turbine experience preferred. Skilled in using precision diagnostic tools and test equipment. Welding and fabrication skills are a plus. Should be familiar with the usage of test equipment and other precision test instruments to be used in identifying problems. Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and industry safety standards. Ability to lift 40-75 lbs. and work in physically demanding conditions. Other Desirable Skills
