The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Pharmacy (UMSOP) Department
of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research (P-SHOR) has an opening for a Community Program Coordinator to work within the Maryland Poison Center
(MPC).
Position Details
Compensation:
$24.45 $25.41 (Commensurate with education & experience)
Work Schedule:
Ability to be flexible with work schedule. May be required to work evenings and weekends.
Primary Duties
Responsible for community outreach poison prevention and safety programs including health fairs and workshops in various communities and for different populations at risk for poisonings. Maintains and updates an effective social media and communication program that engages stakeholders, raises awareness of MPC services, and encourages partnerships with organizations and individuals throughout Maryland using various communication medias that include, but are not limited to, the MPC website, blog, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and newsletters. Prepare and give presentations on health problems, poison prevention and safety, and other health related topics at community health events throughout Maryland. Create and distribute posters, pamphlets. and other educational materials to promote the services and messages of the MPC. Manage data collection, keep records of program activities progress, status, and outcomes and prepare reports for management. Performs other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree. Bachelor's degree in related fields such as Public Health or Community Health or a Health Science field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of experience in health education or marketing, health promotion or related area.
CERTIFICATION:
CHES certification preferred.
OTHER:
Applicants may be required to complete the institution's required skills assessment to be considered. Some positions require specific skills such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, email or calendaring software, and Internet proficiency.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of generally accepted office practices and procedures. Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing. Ability to proofread and edit written documents. Skill in various computer software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation programs, Internet, email and calendaring software. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
