Supervisory Store Associate

This Supervisory Store Associate serves in a developmental capacity as the first line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store. They are responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations. Specific assignments vary by individual store and store management requirements. Responsibilities include serving as a first line supervisor for Store Associates, directing work in multiple areas of the commissary, including front end operations, non-perishable stock control, meat display and case stocking, produce inspection, and accounts maintenance, supply, and computer operations. Requirements include meeting the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1101 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Experience includes plans, directs, or assigns work for employees, knowledge of multiple departments within the grocery store to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers, carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations. Additional requirements include physical requirements such as lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and handling commissary products weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance, and long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and similar activities when taking inventory, retrieving items from the warehouse, and stocking shelves. Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA.
