NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Staff Associate at Chapel Of The Chimes in Oakland to work in the preparation room. Our mortuary preparation team assumes the crucial role of ensuring seamless operations throughout every stage of the delicate cycle for caring for the deceased. The Mortuary Preparation Staff Associate supports embalming and body preparation processes in the funeral home. This role involves handling decedents with care and professionalism, maintaining a sterile and organized work environment, and assisting licensed embalmers and funeral directors with preparation tasks. Responsibilities Assists with receiving decedents, performing the intake analysis on them, inputs the information into the Customer Care application Assists with decedent preparation - dressing, cosmetizing, and casketing Ensure proper chain of custody is maintained throughout the preparation process Completes all record keeping, identification and casketing procedures Consistently maintains reverence and respect for the deceased Preparing complete and accurate documents related to services provided Commit to personal development and growth by participating in personal training opportunities Ensures client families receive a high level of service that is consistent with the standards of NorthStar Memorial Group under the guidance of the Care Center Supervisor Inventory and restock supplies, such as chemicals, PPE, and instruments. Always maintain reverence and respect for the deceased Maintains a sterile and safe work environment consistent with company, government and industry rules and regulations Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager Qualifications Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to handle challenging situations with confidence Unwavering ethical conduct and integrity Professional demeanor and emotional maturity when working with grieving families Experience in mortuary science or healthcare settings preferred. Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs.; team lift for heavier loads. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Comfortable with using computer, tablet, and phone based computer applications on a daily basis Compensation $24.00-$26.00/hr.
