Equal Employment Specialist
This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for an Equal Employment Specialist, and is part of the SC HRO, South Carolina Army National Guard. Responsibilities include serving as the assistant to the Equal Opportunity Manager in planning and implementation of a Statewide equal employment opportunity program. Work involves developing, administering, evaluating, or advising on the internal equal opportunity employment program; identifying and taking actions designed to eliminate institutional barriers to equal opportunity, investigating and resolving cases of alleged illegal discrimination, developing affirmative action plans, and similar work. Requirements include administrative, professional, investigative, technical or other type of experience which demonstrates ability to meet and deal effectively with persons of different ages, races, and economic and education background; to collect and assemble pertinent facts, and to prepare clear and concise written reports. Specialized experience is experience, education or training involving the administering, delivering, maintaining, advising, and adapting basic concepts, principles, and theories of Equal Employment Opportunity to the unique organizational, management, and mission requirements. Conditions of employment include the need to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. Education substitution of education for specialized experience is possible. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
