Software Engineer II (COBOL/API development)

Overview
This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations: NC, AZ, FL, TX.
This position is responsible for providing advanced technical support to data processing systems. It involves analyzing existing and proposed data processing systems or procedures to improve processing capabilities, assisting in the installation of programs and procedures developed in coordination with end user groups, and enhancing data processing systems through system analysis, coding, testing, and other activities that facilitate technical business objectives. Support to mainframe applications may be required, so familiarity with mainframe technologies is preferred.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis:
Sources, compiles, and interprets data. Performs analysis for accuracy and efficiencies, and effectively communicates analysis output. System Testing:
Tests systems to ensure proper installation of new software, system changes, and overall efficiency. Evaluates and reports testing results. Performs coding and assists in implementing system modifications and enhancements. Interacts with Business units to gather requirements, design and develop applications, ensure timely deliverables, rewrite existing business logic for simplification, and create specifications. Business Support:
Provides technical support through coding, ensuring processes run smoothly, and working to improve processing capabilities. Collaborates with business units and operations teams to support their objectives. Technical Proficiency:
Develops or installs appropriate software and serves as a resource on data processing systems and procedures. On-call Support:
Provides 24/7 on-call support, interacts with end users and offshore teams for troubleshooting, and participates in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle and project management activities. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of experience in application software programming OR High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of experience in application software programming. Preferred Area of Study:
Computer Science. Preferred Experience: Proven experience in API development, understanding of API architectural styles; MS.NET; ASP.NET; JavaScript; SQL scripting; PowerShell scripting; HTML5; XML. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Node.js, C#. Knowledge of COBOL, Easytrieve, CICS, VSAM, and JCL. Experience with Microsoft TFS or similar code repositories, ServiceNow or similar IT service ticketing systems, and understanding of SDLC methodologies like Waterfall and Agile.
