About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Projects, youll be responsible for the full engineering life cycle of bespoke machinery and materials handling projects. Youll be hands-on from the very first sketch through to final commissioning, ensuring designs are efficient, compliant, and delivered on time.
Responsibilities: Designing and detailing bespoke conveyor systems, structures, and sheet metal fabrications using SolidWorks & AutoCAD Integrating third-party equipment (shredders, magnets, optical sorters) into complete plant layouts Producing GA drawings, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs for production Managing costs, materials, and project schedules Visiting customer sites in the UK and abroad for surveys, installation, and commissioning Collaborating closely with sales, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions Continuously improving designs, processes, and cost-effectiveness
Experience Required: HNC (or higher) in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Experience with conveyor or special purpose machinery design Proficiency in SolidWorks & AutoCAD (2D & 3D) Strong knowledge of sheet metal, structural steel, and fabrication design Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical principles Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset Experience with ERP/MRP systems Confident communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
