The Senior Cost Accountant will play a key role in supporting the companys cost accounting and financial analysis functions within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for performing detailed cost analysis, supporting inventory and manufacturing operations, and providing actionable insights to drive financial performance. The Role:
The Senior Cost Accountant will play a key role in supporting the companys cost accounting and financial analysis functions within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for performing detailed cost analysis, supporting inventory and manufacturing operations, and providing actionable insights to drive financial performance. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cost accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting Operations: Perform and maintain standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. Financial Analysis & Reporting: Prepare detailed cost reports, margin analysis, and manufacturing cost summaries. Present findings to finance and operations teams to support strategic decision-making. Inventory Oversight: Analyze inventory transactions, reconcile inventory accounts, and support initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory. Cost Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of raw materials, labor, and overhead costs. Evaluate product margins and cost structures to support pricing and profitability strategies. Excess and Obsolete Inventory Analysis: Conduct regular reviews and analysis of inventory levels to identify excess and obsolete stock. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate inventory write-offs and optimize inventory turnover. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and streamline workflows. Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and engineering teams to understand cost drivers and support operational efficiency. Audit & Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. Assist with external audits and prepare documentation for cost-related inquiries.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus. Minimum of 7 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and cost accounting principles. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders. Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven. Seniority level
