Position: HVAC Technician
Annual Schedule: Maintenance Contract
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to:
Facilities Maintenance Supervisor Salary: Commensurate with experience
Purpose Statement
Installs, repairs and maintains a variety of commercial heating, air conditioning, air handling units, boilers and cooling towers. Ensure completion of projects in accordance to trade standards and maintain facilities in a safe, usable and attractive condition.
Essential Functions Diagnose and repair problems with a variety of HVAC systems, including but not limited to boilers, chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, geothermal, VRF/VRV (Daikin), to ensure proper functionality. Install/replace HVAC equipment to ensure a comfortable working environment. Monitor existing HVAC systems and components, for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventative maintenance. Monitor contract work to ensure contract terms are fulfilled and work standards are met. Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Work with preventative maintenance to help resolve HVAC related issues. Estimate materials and/or equipment needed to complete projects as assigned. Daily coordination with supervisor and/or other trades as necessary to complete projects and work orders efficiently. Self-motivated, and able to work independently. Move furniture and equipment within schools and/or school district. Maintain vehicle, tools and equipment in good working order. Participate in team meetings, and seminars as necessary to maintain certifications. Work from ladders and/or lifts to access elevated equipment. Assist other maintenance staff as needed. Assist in snow and ice removal activities as assigned. Other Functions
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the District. Experience
3-5 years of job-related experience preferred Ability to communicate effectively with all staff Basic technological skills Education/Certification
High School diploma or equivalent HVAC Trade School certification or degree Missouri Propane Gas Association Safety Certificate EPA Universal Certification Class E driver's license

Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: work with precision and control where damage could be considerable, work independently to complete projects, lifting of more than 50 pounds, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, climbing and balancing, frequent working from ladders or lifts, exposure to areas where high voltage electricity is present.
