Mobile Blood Drive Unit Assistant / CDL Driver

Your impact as a Mobile Unit Assistant (U) is vital.

As a member of our Teamsters 727 Union MUA team, you will support Vitalant's life-saving mission by facilitating the packing, transporting and assembly of equipment for on-location blood drives, along with blood/blood product delivery to donor centers and mobile blood drives. A CDL is required to drive our larger company vehicles to on location blood drives. Every day you will be making a measurable difference in your community and surrounding areas by being an integral part of the mobile blood drive team!

What to Expect

Schedule:

Schedule varies. Full-Time and includes weekends and holidays. Must have open availability. Usually shifts are closer to 10-12 hours (to account for transportation time)

Can be scheduled as early as 3am and shifts can end as late as 11p-12a occasionally.

Maintain a great rapport with donors and donor care staff for on-location blood drives. Successfully deliver and transport blood drive supplies and/or equipment needed for on-location blood drives. Demonstrate safe operation of company vehicle. Manage the safe handling, cleaning, and tracking of biowaste. Drive company vehicle (box, full-size van, or mobile blood drive bus a possibility) Maintain appearance of donor refreshment areas for on-location blood drives. Use exceptional problem-solving skills to manage weather-related driving issues as they arise. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent 6 months of similar experience preferred Able to pass DOT Physical or currently have DOT Medical Certificate Clean driving record with valid Illinois Class B or D Driver's License (CDL highly preferred) Able to lift 50-75+ lbs. with the assistance of a hand cart
