Northrop Grumman Space Systems Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer (JEMINI) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO and Schriever Space Force Base, CO. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System, enabling the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations and manage networked sensors and weapons systems. This position is for a mid-level Software Engineer on the C2BMC JEMINI program. The candidate will primarily be responsible for software development using

Java . Essential Functions: Applies extensive expertise to solve complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity.

Work is performed without appreciable direction and is reviewed for desired results over a long-term perspective.

Erroneous decisions would normally result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.

May function in project leadership roles and represent the organization as the primary customer contact on significant technical matters.

Ability to work effectively in a rapid-paced, team environment.

Knowledge of software practices and coding standards.

Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend, and develop solutions.

Interact with others using good verbal and written communication skills.

Be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment.

Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of a large, distributed system written in Java.

Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user support for a large code baseline.

Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code.

Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation.

Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve overall system efficiency.

Design, code, test, and implement tools for automation.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in a STEM discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Masters STEM degree and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience instead of a degree.

Current active in-scope DoD-issued

Secret

security clearance at the time of application.

Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.

Java experience.

Experience working as part of an Agile team.

Familiarity with Java Spring and containerization tools such as

Docker/Kubernetes .

Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.

Experience developing enterprise applications.

Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.

Use of common software development and management tools such as

Git ,

Nexus ,

JIRA ,

Confluence ,

Maven

or

Gradle , and

Eclipse .

Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as

Use Cases

and

UML diagrams .

Experience with message translation software and automated test and pipeline development.

Experience developing software for

Unix/Linux

and

Windows

platforms.

Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.

Experience with

Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify

mitigation.

Prior experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers.

Preferred Qualifications: Current and active in-scope DoD-issued TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.

DoD 8140 certification at

IAT Level II or higher

is highly desired.

$124,900 - $187,300 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.
